Effective 2026-05-24
Ticker is a live productivity ticker. We built it as the calm alternative to notifications, and we want our handling of your data to feel the same way: quiet, predictable, and on your terms. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not, and what you can do about it.
1. What we collect
- Email address. Used for magic-link sign-in. We do not require a password.
- GitHub OAuth tokens (if you connect a GitHub source). Stored encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Used only to fetch the events you asked us to fetch.
- Event data passing through the ticker. Transient by design. We do not store long-term copies of the event payloads. We retain only normalized event metadata so we can deduplicate repeats and keep your line clean.
- Standard server logs. IP address and user agent, for security and abuse prevention only.
2. What we do not collect
- Passwords. We use magic-link auth, so there are no passwords to collect.
- Tracking pixels, behavioral analytics, or ad identifiers.
- The actual content of your private feeds when those feeds are kept private. Public visibility is something you choose.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
4. Your rights
- Export. You can request a full export of your data at any time by emailing hello@trytickerapp.com.
- Deletion. You can delete your account at any time. Self-serve deletion will live in the /app settings; until then, email us and we will handle it.
- Revoke a source. You can disconnect any connected source at any time. Self-serve disconnect will live in /app; until then, email us.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Ticker. Your data may pass through them as a normal part of operating the service.
- Supabase - database and auth, US-EAST region.
- Fly.io - server hosting.
- Vercel - static site hosting for this marketing page.
- GitHub - only for users who connect a GitHub source.
6. Contact
Questions about this policy, requests for export, deletion, or revoking a source: hello@trytickerapp.com.
7. Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the effective date at the top and notify active users by email before the change takes effect.
